NSW Department of HousingThe NSW Department of Housing has a range of self contained bedsitter and one bedroom units for single pensioners and couples. Most of the pensioner housing is in self care units, usually set within a housing complex with people of similar age. Waiting lists often apply. The Department of Housing do offer Priority Housing Assistance for people in exceptional circumstances eg have a severe medical condition, disabled or threatened with homelessness. Supporting documentation is also beneficial (from GP, Social Worker etc). People over 80 years of age applying for public housing are automatically granted priority status on their application. The Department can provide modified accommodation for the frail aged and people with disabilities. Client Service Officers can assist with rehousing/transfer requests and requests for modifications.
