The Lachlan Unit
The Lachlan Unit is a dedicated mental health facility located within Sydney Southwest Private Hospital. Treatment is provided on a voluntary basis for patients with a variety of mental health disorders.
- mood and anxiety disorders
- mother and baby
- psychogeriatrics
- post traumatic stress disorder
- personality disorders
- schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders

Admissions can be arranged by referral 24 hours a day. A SSW accredited psychiatrist will be allocated to the patient. A comprehensive mental health assessment will initially be done.
Inpatient programs are offerred for anxiety disorders, mood disorders and psychotic disorders. After discharge patients are encouraged to attend a day patient treatment program. Treatment therapies include:
- group therapy
- one to one counselling
- cognitive behavioural techniques
- creative / art therapies
- relaxation therapy
